As many people give special importance to physical exercise, to maintain good mental health, some habits like exercise should be developed regularly.

Psychiatrist Jyoti Kapur, founder and director of Manasthali, a charity in Haryana, India, told Hindustan Times on World Mental Health Day about her 10 habits to follow every day. Let’s know what should do?

Meditation to calm the mind

Meditation should be done with concentration for a few minutes every day. This practice will keep you flexible, reduce stress, and increase your sense of self-awareness.

There is no substitute for exercise

Exercise that you like to do; Maybe walking, yoga, or vigorous exercise. Exercise releases endorphin hormones that relieve physical and mental pain. It makes the mind happy.

Sleep is just sleep

At least eight hours of deep sleep should be given at night. Adequate rest is very important to cope with daily stress.

Enjoy the company

Relationships with family and friends should be taken care of. Spending time with loved ones increases mental toughness. It further strengthens social interaction.

Moderate screen time

Control how much time you spend on social media each day. Watching, listening, and reading news will also be within limits. Because excess negative information can increase emotional instability.

Give thanks

Get back into the habit of writing a diary. Write down three things that happen every day that make you feel grateful. It makes thinking positive.

Learning something new

Focus on learning new things and improving your skills. It will increase confidence and maintain brain function.

Stick to routine

Work, rest, and self-care these things are better than following a routine. By doing this, the daily uncertainty will be overcome and life will regain its rhythm.

Express yourself

Express your emotions through drawing, writing, or singing. This practice works like a form of therapy.

Consult a doctor

If you feel mentally unwell, don’t hesitate to go to the doctor. Counseling and therapy is very effective in staying healthy.

It’s not unusual to feel stressed throughout the day. It is a natural human response that helps to cope with situations such as anxiety or threats.

However, due to some unknown reason, stress and anxiety bubble up with stress-like conditions, which adversely affects the day’s work.

Green Tea: Apart from water, there are several reasons why green tea is popular among health experts. One of the reasons is the amino acid ‘L-theanine’ found in this drink.

Dr. Naidu said, “Research has proven that this ingredient helps reduce menstrual stress and anxiety.

It also supports brain health by containing powerful polyphenols, which are important for reducing inflammation.

Spices: By adding different types of anti-inflammatory spices to food, the amount of anxiety can be reduced – said Dr. Naidu.

For example, turmeric along with black pepper, cinnamon, ginger and saffron. The nutrients they contain can reduce inflammation and improve brain health.

Masala tea: When these spices are collected, make tea with them and drink it, Dr. Naidu.

He said, “The traditional Indian method of black tea mixed with various spices works very well. It also tastes great.”

Choices include – cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, black pepper and ginger. These spices help in making tea rich in polyphenols.

Turmeric with milk: called ‘Golden Milk’. And the amount of ups and downs of mood can be reduced by sipping this drink to improve the brain with turmeric powder, said Dr. Naidu.

The nutritionist recommends mixing almond milk, turmeric powder, honey, nutmeg powder, and a pinch of fresh red chili powder as ingredients.

Nourishing lavender drink: If caffeine increases anxiety, drink herbal tea, Dr. Naidu.

In this case, this nutritionist believes that lavender tea prepared in hot water mixed with mint leaves or lemon juice will bring peace of mind.

Mixed Vegetables: Feeling stressed? Then eat vegetables – advised Dr. Naidu.

He said, “Different types of vitamins and minerals are available by eating greens with different types of vegetables. It also provides antioxidants polyphenols and fiber—which help reduce nerve inflammation associated with anxiety.”
